Vann Named VP of Academic Affairs for Coosa Valley Technical College
Dr. Craig McDaniel, President of Coosa Valley Technical College (CVTC), has named Dr. Cathy Vann as Vice President of Academic Affairs. Vann currently serves on the Gordon Campus of Coosa Valley Technical College in Calhoun, Georgia as Campus Manager/Dean of Academic Affairs. Vann will succeed Dottie Gregg, who will retire June 30, 2008.
“Dr. Vann will do an outstanding job for the college as Vice President of Academic Affairs,” stated McDaniel. “She has had campus management experience, has been an integral part of the process to secure accreditation for the college, and has worked extremely hard to help the college maintain excellence in our credit programs of study.”
Vann graduated cum laude from Shorter College in 1997 with a bachelor of science degree in management. She obtained her master of science degree in computer information technology from Regis University, Denver, Colorado in 2002 and received her education specialist degree in 2004 from Nova Southeastern University. Vann also earned her doctorate in organizational leadership in 2006 from Nova Southeastern University.
“I am honored to be chosen to serve CVTC in this capacity. I appreciate the opportunity to work with President McDaniel and the outstanding administrative team for continued success of the college and our service areas of Floyd, Gordon, and Polk counties,” said Vann.
Vann began her career with CVTC as a Business Technology Instructor in 1999. She was promoted to Department Chair in 2001 where she served for two years. In 2003, Vann was promoted to Director of Instruction, serving on both the Floyd and Polk Campuses in the areas of business technologies and general education. She was promoted in 2004 to Campus Manager/Dean of Academic Affairs.
As Vice President of Academic Affairs, Vann will supervise and lead in instructional areas. Vann will be responsible for instructional personnel, including library services and information technology; make approval decisions regarding CVTC programs of study; preside over student appeals; develop and maintain staff in-service activities; and promote the college through speaking engagements and presentations.
Vann is a graduate of Leadership Rome and Leadership Calhoun/Gordon County. She serves as Co-Chair of the Education Committee for the Calhoun/Gordon County Chamber of Commerce, the Adult Literacy Council, and the Gordon County Vocational Rehabilitation Committee. Vann serves on the Board of Directors of the Calhoun/Gordon Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of the Calhoun Rotary Club and is currently participating in the 2008 Technical College System of Georgia Executive Leadership Academy.
