Coosa Valley Technical College Increases Enrollment For Fall Quarter
Coosa Valley Technical College (CVTC)’s enrollment for fall quarter 2008 grew by seven percent over enrollment for fall quarter 2007. Enrollment for the college’s three campuses for fall quarter 2008 is 2,818 students, over the 2,627 students enrolled last year for the same quarter.
Of the 2,818 students attending classes at Coosa Valley Technical College for this quarter, Floyd county campus has an enrollment of 1,906 students, Gordon county campus has 698 students, and Polk county campus has 214 students.
“We projected the enrollment increase for fall quarter,” stated Dr. Steve Bradshaw, Vice President for Student Affairs, Coosa Valley Technical College. “Traditionally, when there is a change in the economic climate, people seek training. They are looking for the opportunity to improve their position with a current employer, or to learn new skills to change career fields and seek better jobs.”
“The connection between our programs and the job market is one factor in our continued growth,” said Dr. Craig McDaniel, President, Coosa Valley Technical College. “Not only do we have strong enrollment, but we have a placement rate that consistently exceeds 90 percent.”
Over 8,884 students participated in one of CVTC’s credit and/or noncredit programs during fiscal year 2008. Of this total, 4,480 were enrolled in degree, diploma, or certificate programs. The remaining 4,404 students took advantage of CVTC’s continuing education courses, business and industry services, and adult education.
