Coosa Valley Technical College Dedicates the Lu Ann Pierson Memorial Garden
On Monday, October 20, 2008, Coosa Valley Technical College (CVTC) held a ceremony dedicating the garden in front of the Health Building on the Floyd County Campus as the Lu Ann Pierson Memorial Garden.
Lu Ann Pierson worked at CVTC as the secretary for the Health Technologies Division from February 1978 until she retired in March 2006.
CVTC President Dr. Craig McDaniel spoke of Pierson’s commitment to the college. “This place meant a great deal to Lu Ann the entire time she was here. She cared about the students, she cared about the faculty, and she was very loyal to CVTC,” stated McDaniel. “She also meant a lot to those of us who had the pleasure to work with her.”
In front of a crowd of Pierson’s family, friends, CVTC faculty, staff, and retirees, McDaniel unveiled a dedication plaque
McDaniel told the guests, “From this point forward, as we memorialize other faculty and staff in this garden, it will always be known as the Lu Ann Pierson Memorial Garden.”
