Where will I find information about the Library at Coosa Valley Technical College?

How do I find out if a book is in the library at Coosa Valley Technical College?

Open Internet Explorer on your PC. Go to http://library.cvtcollege.org to get to the library online catalog, then begin a search. Results will display the call number, location (which branch library), and if the item is on the shelf for you to check out.

If the library doesn’t have the book I want, what do I do next?

You may request the library buy the material as detailed below, or you may request the library borrow that item for you from another library around the world (Interlibrary Loan).

How do I request a book be borrowed from another library? Will the service be free?

Go to http://www.cvtcollege.org/library/ill.html, click on the link to print a request form for either a book or a periodical article, complete the form and email, return to the library, or place in campus mail for Library Services. This is a free service!

How do I request a book or audio visual item for purchase?

Go to http://www.cvtcollege.org/library/purchase.html, click on the link to print the request form, complete the form and email, return to the library, or place in campus mail for Library Services.

Where will I find a current list of periodicals the library subscribes to?

Go to http://www.cvtcollege.org/library/periodicals.html, click on the campus you wish displayed.

Heard about Galileo? What is it, and how do I get to it?

Galileo provides access to over one hundred databases indexing thousands of periodicals and scholarly journals. Over 2000 periodicals are provided in full-text. Galileo also gives CVTC students and faculty subject access to databases for ease in searching. Go to http://www.galileo.usg.edu , click on one of the subject tabs or a specific database to begin your search. If you are off campus, you will need a password to use Galileo.

The library has books and audio visuals, both academic and popular interest titles, purchased with the students and faculty/staff of Coosa Valley Technical College in mind. The library also provides computer access and software programs to assist you in your coursework.
