CVTC Library Services: Materials Checkout

Material Check-Out Procedure

In the library on CVTC's campuses, students and faculty search the library collection via the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog). OPAC access is available at workstations with Internet access.

Items necessary for check-out

Coosa Valley Technical College students, faculty, and staff can borrow materials by presenting a current school identification card and drivers’ license at the first checkout. Only the school I. D. is required after the account is established. Students may request a PIN number to access their library record off campus. This allows them to renew items and/or place holds on items they wish to pick up.

Circulation of materials to the general public is not permitted at this time, with exceptions made on a case-by-case basis.

Borrowing Privileges with other College Libraries in the Northwest Georgia Area

Students, faculty, and staff from CVTC, Berry College, Shorter College, and Floyd College have reciprocal borrowing privileges with each institution's library. The agreement includes in-house use of Reference Materials and check-out privileges for circulating collections.

Check-out limits and loan periods

A limit of five items may be borrowed from the library collection for a two-week period. Materials may be renewed as often as needed providing there are no holds on the title. Main collection items not returned by the due date will be assessed an over due fee of 10¢ per item, per day.

Audio visual materials may be checked-out by students for 3 day viewing. Audio visuals not returned by the due date are assessed a $1.00 per day late fee.

In addition to books and audio visual items, faculty members are permitted to check-out reference materials and periodicals.
